Design Centers for Excellence
Microtune has established Design Centers for Excellence in our worldwide locations to promote RF innovation and invention. Our Centers for Excellence are comprised of teams of RF silicon and systems experts that drive our technologies into new and industry-leading products. They bring our forward-looking solutions to market quickly, efficiently and cost effectively. Equally important, they provide our customers with a high level of support in integrating our technology into their consumer electronics products or automotive entertainment systems.
To design and create our high-performance solutions, our teams include seasoned RF and digital signal processing experts across multiple domains and design competencies, including RF-IC designers, systems engineers, test and applications engineers, software developers, manufacturing engineers, communications systems algorithm designers, mixed signal IC designers, and quality/reliability assurance engineers.
Our technical teams stay ahead of current technologies, standards and applications, focusing on products that offer differentiation and competitive advantage to customers. To date, our teams have been granted more than 80 U.S. patents for RF circuit, architectural and system designs.
Design Centers for Excellence are located in our corporate office in Plano, Texas, in our European headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany, in our China center in Shanghai, China and in our satellite centers in Plantation, Florida (near Fort Lauderdale), San Jose, California, and Boulder, Colorado.
The teams work in state-of-the-art facilities that house millions of dollars worth of equipment and software. Microtune provides each engineer with thousands of dollars in capital equipment to ensure that each professional is working with the latest and best hardware and software design tools.
We provide the tools and equipment required to resolve complex RF and baseband issues, to bring advanced products to market and to create robust solutions that can move from concept to volume production. Included in our labs are:
In our Plano, TX facility, Microtune has invested millions of dollars in a state-of-the-art RF-IC labs that provides verification and diagnostic equipment to verify chip-level performance and to develop and debug system-level designs. From an RF-IC application and systems engineering viewpoint, the labs handle the needs of both cable and off-air testing.
In our facility in Ingolstadt, Germany, Microtune provides similar RF-IC systems engineering capabilities, focused on chip evaluation and applications supporting the DVB-C, DVB-T, DVB-H, DTMB and ISDB-T standards. We have also invested significantly in a state-of-the-art environmental simulation to perform product validations and qualifications according to strict automotive industry standards. Our facility offers an advanced center not only for R&D and RF module design, but also production test development. Our team plays a critical role in developing highly specialized test procedures.
In our facility in Shanghai, Microtune has a full range of mixed-signal IC design capability, including algorithm design, analog circuit design, RTL design and synthesis, and physical design/layout using the latest CMOS processes. Our world-class team of hardware and software engineers develop engineering tools, customer evaluation kits, and software drivers to support various applications of our demodulators.
Our teams are committed to on-time execution and maintain the highest level of practices and standards, from design reviews to benchmarking. Through defined methodologies, processes and techniques, the focus is on quality, predictability and efficiency.
To support customers in integrating our technology, Microtune offers an infrastructure of worldwide application and engineering assistance. Our teams are ready to provide the highest standards of quality and support when integrating Microtune technology into cable and off-air RF products. Engineers in the Design Centers for Excellence offer troubleshooting and engineering support on complex customization projects. They have created Evaluation Boards and Reference Designs that enable customers to acquire an early-to-market solution for their product needs.
The resources at the Design Centers for Excellence complement Microtune's extensive network of field application engineering (FAE) support, which provides immediate and direct support to our customers, ensuring total customer satisfaction in deploying the company's products.
