Walter S. Ciciora has been an independent consultant for companies in the cable television, consumer electronics and telecommunications industries since October 1993. Previously, he was Vice President of Technology of Time Warner Cable. He serves as an expert witness in patent cases. Dr. Ciciora is a cofounder of EnCamera Sciences Corp, sold in 2000, and Addressable Television Network. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, a Fellow of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, and a Fellow of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers.
Dr. Ciciora holds a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
James H. Clardy has been a venture partner of Austin Ventures, a venture capital firm, since January 1998. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of several privately-held technology companies.
From October 1997 to January 1998, Mr. Clardy was a private consultant, and from October 1991 until October 1997, he was President of Crystal Semiconductor, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cirrus Logic, Inc. In 1984 he co-founded Crystal Semiconductor and served as its CEO until its acquisition by Cirrus Logic in 1991.
He was employed by Texas Instruments in various senior management positions for 21 years and by Harris Semiconductor for four years as Vice President of Operations.
Mr. Clardy holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Tennessee.
Steven Craddock is senior vice president of New Media Development for Comcast Corporation where he is responsible for the evaluation and development of new interactive multimedia and interactive technologies. He also serves as Comcast's representative to CableLabs®, a research and development consortium sponsoring industry initiatives such as the DOCSIS®, PacketCable™ and CableHome™ standards. At CableLabs, he is a voting member of the DOCSIS and PacketCable certification boards.
Prior to this position, Mr. Craddock was with Bell Atlantic Corporation in a career that spanned twenty years across diverse engineering, operations, marketing and strategic planning functions. In his last assignment, he was the vice president for Broadband Network Ventures and a principal technology figure in cable television and interactive television development activity. He was also one of the founding members and an executive of Bell Atlantic Video Services.
Mr. Craddock has also served as the CEO of a software development company, has consulted in the fields of engineering and computer services, performed due diligence for venture capital work and has served on the advisory boards of numerous companies.
James Fontaine, with more than twenty-three years of experience in the electronics industry, is CEO and President of Microtune.
Mr. Fontaine had been President of Microtune from 1999-2000 and retired from that position, but was asked by the Board of Directors to return to the Company in August, 2003. Prior to joining Microtune, he was President of The Fontaine Group, a firm specializing in high-technology company formation, business plan development and funding.
From 1994 - 1996, Mr. Fontaine held various positions at Cirrus Logic, including Vice President and General Manager of the PC Graphics and Video Division and Vice President of Marketing. As Vice President of Marketing at Cirrus Logic, he was responsible for desktop and portable graphics strategy and product marketing activities.
In 1991, Mr. Fontaine co-founded and served as President of Pixel Semiconductor, which was acquired by Cirrus Logic in 1994. In 1985, Mr. Fontaine founded and served as Vice President of Marketing for Visual Information Technologies, Inc., a company that developed image-processing technologies for high-end visualization markets. He has also held positions of design engineer and product manager at Texas Instruments and Mostek.
Mr. Fontaine received a BSEE from Marquette University in 1980.
Anthony J. LeVecchio is president and owner of The James Group, a general business consulting firm that has advised CEOs across a range of high-tech industries. He has also served as director, advisor, and executive of private and public companies in a variety of industries, including the semiconductor industry.
Prior to forming his own company in 1988, Mr. LeVecchio was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for VHA Southwest Inc., a regional healthcare system, where he structured the corporate financing plans for the company and its four subsidiaries. From 1983 to 1985, he was the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Philips Information Systems, an office automation company. His responsibilities included all treasury and controller duties, MIS development and operations, business planning, and domestic and international distribution. Prior to 1983, Mr. LeVecchio held several financial management positions with Exxon Office Systems and Xerox Corporation.
Mr. LeVecchio received a B.A. in Economics and a MBA in Business Administration degree in Finance from Rollins College, Winter Park, FL.
Bernard Marren is currently the President and CEO of OPTi, Inc., a company that licenses intellectual property for logic chips. He is also the Chairman and Founder of Quorum Systems, Inc., a private fabless semiconductor manufacturing company that develops highly integrated RF transceivers, and a Director of u-Nav Microelectronics Inc., another private RF semiconductor company that delivers low-power chipsets for battery-powered global positioning systems.
In a career that spans more than 40 years, Mr. Marren was both a founder of and the top executive with multiple companies that pioneered new semiconductor technologies. He also served as chief executive with a number of high-tech firms, widely regarded for his leadership in sales and marketing, engineering and operations. He has been associated in his career with, among other companies, Western Micro Technology, Inc., Silicon Engineering, Inc., INNO COMM Wireless, American MicroSystems, Inc., and Fairchild Semiconductor.
Extending his executive leadership to the electronics industry as a whole, Mr. Marren was a founder and the first President of the Semiconductor Industry Association. He is also a past President and Chairman of the National Electronic Distributors Association and a past President of the Electronic Industry Show Corporation.
Mr. Marren is a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology (BSEE).
With more than 15 years experience in wireless communications, Mr. Schueppert previously was the President of Modeo™ LLC, and was an executive with Cable & Wireless PLC, one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies, serving in the UK and overseas. Functioning in a variety of strategic, sales and marketing positions, he was instrumental in transforming traditional telecommunications infrastructures to support future telephony, mobile and Internet requirements. He is recognized for his ability to combine entrepreneurial accomplishments with traditional business operations by pioneering new network technologies and convergence services.
Mr. Schueppert is a graduate of Cambridge University, UK, and holds an MBA with distinction from INSEAD, France.
William P. Tai is a general partner of Charles River Ventures as well as of several funds managed by Institutional Venture Partners.
He has extensive experience as an early stage investor in the enabling-technology segment. He has worked with more than 30 early-stage companies throughout a career as a venture capitalist that spans more than a decade. He serves as a director of several public companies including Microtune (TUNE) and Transmeta (TMTA) as well as several privately held companies.
Prior to becoming a venture capitalist, he established the semiconductor practice at Alex Brown and Sons where he positioned public offerings of Adaptec, Atmel, Cirrus Logic, Dallas Semiconductor, Exar, and Zilog.
He holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering with honors from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business.Independent Consultant
Travis White is semi retired. He serves on the Board of Directors of several companies, including Staktek Holdings, Inc. (STAK), Microtune, Inc. (TUNE), Microprobe, Inc. and Zilker Labs, Inc. and provides ‘CEO coaching' for a number of businesses.
Most recently (1998-2000), he was CEO and President of Centillium Communications, Inc. (Fremont, CA), a public fabless semiconductor company focused on chip-set solutions for high-speed DSL applications. Prior to that, Mr. White was President of Sony Semiconductor of America and a Senior Vice President of Sony Semiconductor Company (Japan) from 1995 to 1998.
Mr. White spent more than 12 years with LSI Logic Corporation in several senior capacities, including Senior Vice President of European Operations and Vice President of Central Operations. His last position (1991-1996) was as Chairman, CEO and President of LSI Corporation of Canada and Executive Vice President of LSI Logic Corporation (Milipitas, CA). During the period of February 1993 to May 1994, while still Chairman of LSI Logic Corp. of Canada, he joined Western Digital Corporation as Executive Vice President and Group Manager of the Microcomputer Products Group to help execute a corporate turnaround of the semiconductor business.
Mr. White has also worked for various other high-tech companies, including Texas Instruments Corporation, Honeywell and Fairchild Camera, in various engineering, manufacturing, and operations and planning positions.
Mr. White is a graduate of University of Texas, El Paso with a B.S. degree in Biological Sciences and Chemistry.
