Manufacturing
As part of its quality manufacturing process, Microtune tests
and qualifies its silicon products before releasing them to mass
production. The company has invested significantly in equipment and
top-notch test engineering talent to develop the test programs for
production, qualification and characterization, ensuring the
quality, performance and reliability of its RF silicon
portfolio.

Silicon Manufacturing: Fabless Manufacturing
Microtune outsources semiconductor wafer fabrication and packaging
to multiple manufacturers that specialize in leading-edge process
technologies such as Silicon Germanium (SiGe). These manufacturers
employ the latest equipment and packaging to support the
company’s high-volume production and yield objectives.
Microtune leverages a fabless business model to produce
manufacturing flexibility and economies. Its fabless operations,
coupled with proven core competencies in RF component design and
testing, permit the delivery of an IC product line characterized by
high quality and superior price/performance. At the same time,
Microtune’s fabless operations help meet customer volume
expectations, while driving the continued consolidation and
cost-reduction of its silicon products.
RoHS-Compliant Silicon Tuners
Microtune offers a
RoHS-compliant packaging option across its entire silicon tuner product line. These RF-integrated circuits are manufactured with RoHS-compliant assembly processes and compounds. Using alternative alloys and materials, these silicon packages now offer the same size, electrical/mechanical characteristics, performance and reliability of MicroTuner tuner chips produced with older style packages. The company has worked closely with its vendors to assure compliance with RoHS legislation.
Module Manufacturing
Microtune outsources its products to high-volume offshore manufacturing subcontractors whose extended manufacturing services have enabled the Company to produce cost-optimized, quality-driven RF module subsystems.
Quality Assurance
As part of its Quality commitment, Microtune has implemented
internal quality assurance policies and procedures, beginning at
the product design stage, that ensure the quality, testability and
reliability of its products.
Microtune has adopted precise design methodologies, closely
linked with production, to prototype its parts. It engages in
extensive simulation and reliability testing before the release of
prototypes to high-volume manufacturing. During manufacturing,
product monitoring continues to ensure that the highest level
quality is maintained.
The company also employs state-of-the-art Oracle software and
global communications systems and networks to streamline internal
processes and to facilitate customer communications.
